Building Memory closes on December 1 in the Robert Cain Gallery to make room for a new selection of seasonal artworks from the Permanent Collection. Included in this new exhibition is a bold 1999 Virginia Phillips (1931-2017) painting called New Wave VIII (above) which captures her unique artistic style. The painting is accompanied by works of other notable Porter County artists—Hazel Hannell, Harriet Rex Smith, Jan Sullivan, and others—close friends of Phillips who frequently gathered together at the Art Barn School of Art. We like to say that the PoCo Muse sits at the intersection of art and history.
