Living History: Historical Trades

  • Porter County Museum 20 Indiana Avenue Valparaiso, IN, 46383 United States (map)

Living history interpreters celebrate the bicentennial year of Joseph Bailly’s arrival to Porter County with furs, traps, and other accessories of the Voyageur lifestyle in August 2022.

We will be joined on the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn (across the street from the PoCo Muse) by living history interpreters displaying a variety of historical trades. Come see blacksmiths, weavers, cobblers, and more! At one time these professions were commonplace in society, found in almost every community, but they are now seldom seen, some nearly forgotten! Our interpreters have spent years researching their historical professions and replicating them to share with the public.
