VU Homecoming Float, 1915

This image is looking slightly northeast at West Main Street’s intersection with Washington Street. The Academy of Music Block and Albe’s Restaurant are a backdrop to the 1915 parade.

Float on West Main Street, 1915

Float on West Main Street, 1915

This view offers an extremely rare glimpse of the south side of West Main Street between Lafayette and Napoleon Streets in Valparaiso. Slightly obstructed by the 1915 float is the White Front Garage, which is notable for the era.

Rooftop View of Intersection, 1915

Rooftop View of Intersection, 1915

This tiny image of Main Street’s intersection with Washington Street (as the true north/south and east/west dividing line for Valparaiso) is packed with incredible detail. Zoom in to see the 1915 Wade & Wise float, stubborn horses, and frantic parade goers.

VU Homecoming Float on the Square, 1915

VU Homecoming Float on the Square, 1915

Look closely and you can see detail of the courthouse poking through the corn husks of this 1915 float.

Wilson Lumber Float, 1915

Wilson Lumber Float, 1915

We are not sure where this was taken, but we know it features the 1915 Wilson Lumber float for the VU Homecoming Parade.

Tri Kappa's Overland Float, 1915

Tri Kappa's Overland Float, 1915

A great image of Tri Kappa’s Overland float for the 1915 parade, which is visible in two other images from our collection.

Student Float at Michigan & Main Streets, 1915

Student Float at Michigan & Main Streets, 1915

The old McMahan Brothers building is a great backdrop for this 1915 float. Some of you might remember the building from when it housed Valparaiso’s water department.

Brenner's Drug Store Float, 1915

Brenner's Drug Store Float, 1915

Brenner’s Drug Store was located on the east side of the public square in 1915 and frequently advertised in university publications.
